This totally original Jolly Nigger Bank made between 1882 and 1892 by Shepard Hardward Co, Buffalo NY. This was the companies first mechanical patent being issued on the 14th March 1882.
Shepard did not prime their cast iron so the Bank was vulnerable to paint loss, but this example is in outstanding condition for its age and the patina is outstanding.
Compared to the other versions of this bank, we consider this one to be a premier collecters version as it comes from the original patent holder and from a very early vintage.
